Industrial painting of 3 turbine units for Kansas City Power & Light

Genesis scope of work for the South Harper Peaking Facility consisted of 3 Siemens 501D5a Simple Cycle Combustion Turbine units, along with the turbine inlet, turbine enclosure, generator and inlet, electrical package, mechanical package, staring motor enclosure, and turbine stack and miscellaneous support structures.

Some of the components were previously painted by the manufacturer and was in need of repainting. The majority of the components and structures were either left zinc primed or galvanized upon erection of the units. Genesis was required to prep the galvanized structures, Zinc primed and previously painted components by pressure washing with an waterborne alkaline cleaner to clean any soiled and chalked surfaces.

Once cleaned, Genesis applied one coat of Siloxane Epoxy on all zinc and galvanized surfaces. Previously painted surfaces required one coat of a Siloxane-Acrylic coating.
